Product Description
Cera Bellina is a refined beeswax derivative processed to remove free fatty acids, significantly improving its oil-gelling properties and compatibility in cosmetic formulations.
This process removes free fatty acid functionalities, significantly improves oil gelling properties, gel formation, oil retention, and compatibility in cosmetic products.
The resulting Cera Bellina wax improves the consistency and stability of oil-based formulations, which is why it’s so popular in cosmetics. When mixed with oils and cooled slowly, Cera Bellina wax forms stable non-granular gels and oil gels with natural and synthetic oils. Its ability to create liquid crystalline structures improves stability, texture, and overall product performance. Cera Bellina prevents oil syneresis and supports even distribution of pigments and oils in the oil phase, so the product is uniform and stable.
Its compatibility with mineral and polymer extenders, organic and inorganic pigments (including inorganic pigments) makes it very useful in decorative cosmetics and other cosmetic products. Cera Bellina wax is used in cosmetics to improve the stability and texture of products like lip balms, lipsticks, and foundations. It’s also great for creating glide-y oil gels that melt smoothly on the skin.
With a melting point of 63°C–73°C and a mild to neutral scent it blends easily into formulations. It also contributes to a more stable final product by reducing oil separation and increasing viscosity, so it’s very effective in applications where emollient control is important.
Skin-Soothing & Texture-Enhancing Formulations
Cera Bellina's unique rheological properties make it valuable in formulations designed for sensitive or reactive skin. Its ability to create smooth, non-draggy textures means formulations glide comfortably on skin without pulling or irritation.
It's particularly useful in lotion bars, balms, and massage oils where comfortable application and stable texture are essential. The finished products created with Cera Bellina deliver excellent payoff without greasiness, making them pleasant to use for all skin types.
Suitable for All Skin Types
Cera Bellina is well tolerated by most skin types, including sensitive, mature and blemish-prone skin. It supports moisture retention in dry skin and gives a silky feel in facial and body care products.
Haircare Formulations
While used in skincare, Cera Bellina is also suitable for haircare products, especially in styling balms and pomades. Its structure-enhancing properties give smooth application and longer-lasting performance in oil-based hair products.
How to use it
Skin Care
- Use between 1% to 29% and ensure that the oils that are heated are heat stable. For heat-sensitive oils like Rosehip Seed Oil, Borage Oil, or Evening Primrose Oil, add these during the slow cool-down stage after removing from heat to preserve their beneficial properties.
- It can be used in virtually all products that have an oil component in them, such as creams, lotions, massage bars, lip balms and serums.
- It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
- It helps to ensure that you get no grainy or granular effect in your body butters - this is especially good with shea butter.
- It inhibits crystallisation in the oil phase and enhances the stability.
- Your balms will not have a “draggy” beeswax feeling at all, but will have an elegant glide.
- Turning a blend of vegetable oils into a silky feeling skin gel is easy.
- Use between 1% to 29% and ensure that the oils that are heated are heat stable, and add the more heat-sensitive oils in the slow cool-down stage.
- Creams and lotions can be made even more stable by using Cera Bellina as a co-emulsifier.
- This becomes very important if the third-stage ingredients you want to add might make a regular emulsification unstable and separate.
- Having a more stable cream in the first place helps a lot. Works equally well in Oil in Water (O/W) as well as Water in Oil (W/O) emulsions.
- Sometimes, oil serums can start to slightly separate due to differences in the specific gravity of various oils, as well as if some of the fats used were solid fats.
- Cera Bellina will give better stability to these serums.
Other
- Fat-soluble, so it cannot be used in water-based products.
- Use at 1% to 2% as part of the fat stage when making creams and lotions.
- Use at 1% to 20% for body butters, lotion bars, skin balms and lip balms.
- The gel formation is much better if the cool-down stage is slow, and this is even more important when thin oils like White Poppy Seed are used.
- In coloured makeup products, Cera Bellina helps to break up pigment clumps by forming a smooth gel, which gives a much better, even distribution of the ingredients.
