Inci: Urea

An extremely effective moisturiser and humectant that can improve dry and scaly skin. A good deodorant that also makes excellent foot creams. This product used to be called “Carbamide Moisturising Crystals”.

White granules with a very faint aroma that are synthesised by producing ammonia from nitrogen gas that is taken from the air. This is then combined with Carbon Dioxide and this forms what is called a “hot melt”. Water is added, and it becomes an aqueous Urea solution, which is then evaporated to produce the Urea Crystals.

Use 1% to 10%.

Use 1-5% in deodorants and hand creams as a humectant and for moisturising purposes.

Use up to 10% for softening the hard skin on the feet.

Water-soluble, so cannot be used in oil only products.

Heat stable, so can be used in Stage 2 (water stage) when making creams and lotions.

Urea combines very well in creams that contains Calendula and Shea Butter for cracked heels on the feet.

Be aware that this product can make emulsions thin slightly, so you may need to formulate a thicker texture to start with, using a strong emulsifier.

Skin Care

Urea is an excellent humectant that improves moisture levels in the skin. It helps to replenish the natural levels of urea lost from the skin by using harsh cleansing products.

It has skin soothing properties but is too strong to be used on very sensitive or babies skin.

When used in the higher percentages, it helps to loosen the keratin bonds in hard skin, making it an excellent ingredient in foot creams.

Can improve the appearance of dry and scaly skin.

Urea has a very good deodorising effect which is useful in foot gels and creams, but also in deodorants.

No specific use in hair care products.

Hi, just wanted to double check if this urea powder is counted as halal? Thank you: Thank you for your enquiry. There is nothing to indicate that the urea is not halal. It is synthetic and no alcohol or animal derivatives are involved, but Aromantic doesn't have Halal certification.

i’ve had very good and bad experiences with skin products containing urea - so I’m aware that dosage is critical. I’m wondering if you can recommend a dosage rate for urea crystals in a bath (for general therapeutic purposes). I’m asking because I have a chronically dry itchy body, and I think it may be the solution. Obviously, you don’t know the volume of my bath, so a grams per litre estimate would be fine. FYI: I think the water volume of our bath is about 300 litres.: Thank you for your enquiry. The recommend percent to us is between 1% to 10%. You could try 5% to begin with.
Hi, what can I add to face washing powder (oat powder based) to make it more moisturising? It has to be in powder as it’s a powder product. Thank you: Hello, You could try Hyaluronic Acid Powder and Phytoglycogen Powder but don't use Hyaluronic Acid Powder if you are using Vitamin C Powder.
Hello I am using your urea crystals to formulate with and I see they are heat stable which is great. I have read elsewhere not to heat urea in a formulation. Please see the below response from our Research and Development Team; "We have used Urea Crystals for many years and never seen any information from our suppliers regarding not heating the product. When the Urea is dissolved in the heated water stage it does not have any effect on the stability of the emulsion or the efficacy of the ingredient, however, if it were to be dissolved in some of the cold water and then added in the stage 3 (cool down stage) it has the potential to cause the emulsion to separate."
